Jacob Biamonte and I are organizing a small meeting to accelerate the cross-pollination of ideas between tensor network states in quantum many-body systems and applied algebraic geometry. The meeting will be held at the ISI Foundation in Turin, Italy on November 6-8, 2012. For more information see the website Tensor network states and algebraic geometry.
In Summer 2014, we will teach an IMA PI Graduate Summer School on Modern Applications of Representation Theory (details soon).
On August 1-4 2013, I am organizing a minisymposium on tensor networks (with a quantum emphasis) at the SIAM conference on applied algebraic geometry.
Guido and I will be attending the Deep Learning and Unsupervised Feature Learning Workshop at NIPS 2012, presenting two papers, Kernels and Submodels of Deep Belief Networks (not yet on the arXiv) and When Does a Mixture of Products Contain a Product of Mixtures?
Henry Cohn, Lek-Heng Lim, Giorgio Ottaviani, and I are organizing a workshop on Tensors in Computer Science and Geometry at the new Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing at U.C. Berkeley in Fall 2014. That fall there will be a special semester on Algorithms and Complexity in Algebraic Geometry, and the workshop will represent one of the three organizing themes of the semester.
